Position Description: Manage/support technical projects associated with instrumentation development and mission support at White Sands Missile Range. Duties include research, design, develop, testing, and troubleshooting systems. Requires integration of electronic, mechanical, thermodynamic, and computer software elements and communications interfaces to meet technical requirements associated with diverse engineering projects. The use of appropriate project management and systems engineering methodology. Manage/support technical projects associated with facility and equipment modernization, system development, sustainment, operations and maintenance activities. Coordinate with trades personnel during project execution phases. The primary point of communication between customers and project teams, work through each phase of the given system and process, from plan along with expansion to validation and operation, risk assessment, requirement analysis, risk analysis, stakeholder management, system documentation including CAD drawings, system diagrams and Standard Operating Procedures. Assigned projects and work may be located at multiple locations throughout the White Sands Missile Range and remote locations. Work areas include but not limited to the South Range, White Sands Post Area, Holloman Air Force Base, and Stallion Range Center.
Minimum Qualification Requirements: Strong education and experience track record in engineering or applied physics. Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or Physics plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical project management/support. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with technical drawing software such as the Autodesk suite of drawing tools. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Desired Qualifications: Strong engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer programming background. Extensive knowledge of electronic design principles and digital image processing and analysis technique. Hands-on experience with assembly, testing, and troubleshooting electronic/computer systems. Experience with explosive materials. Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) Test and Evaluation programs and mission support activities.

Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Range Management or a related discipline (preferred); or coursework with a combination of biological, physical or earth science with minimum 15 hours in such subjects as soil genesis, pedology, soil chemistry, soil physics, and soil fertility.
Experience: Working knowledge of Range Science/Plant Science and Field data collection including field experience in western states.
Knowledge: Native plant identification, soil science,use of GPS equipment, field data recording instruments/ computers, compass, clinometers and other equipment is a plus. The applicant should have a working knowledge of the NRI grazing land field protocols and should be comfortable with outdoor field work.

Combination of education and experience-at least 42 semester hours of coursework in the combination of plant, animal, and soil sciences and natural resourcesmanagement shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. -AND- One year of specialized experience in rangeland plant identification andrangeland site inventory methods as qualified by human resources – OR - 2 years ofprogressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master’s degree.
Knowledge and competence in rangeland management to perform work involving the preservation, development and management of rangelands.
