Zia Engineering and Environmental Consultants, LLC is seeking a motivated and experienced CAD Technician to support civil engineering projects in our Las Cruces office.


Duties for this position will include:

Essential Functions
This position requires a solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology. Must have mechanical aptitude with ability to complete basic mathematical calculations.  Work will be assigned by a Professional Engineer/Project Manager and completion of work must be performed within the allocated budget and timeline for production. Ability to use CAD equipment such as large format plotters, Civil CAD Station and AutoTurn Cad Software. Create and revise design drawings for residential and commercial land development, roads (plan and profiles), utilities and public facilities and infrastructure. Draw finished designs from sketches, dimensions and manufactures files. Update drafting and engineering standards from county, city, state and federal guidelines. Set up and maintain an organized file system for production drawings based as company filing standards.

 

Competencies
Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and AutoTurn. Must have working knowledge of GIS Software and applications. Have excellent written and verbal communications skills; ability to work well independently and in a team. Problem solving/Analysis and collaboration skills.

 

Minimum requirements: A High School diploma and Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or graduate of a civil drafting program at a recognized technical institute or one year of related experience and/or formal training in AutoCAD. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable as determined by Human Resources. 


Special considerations:  Unofficial transcripts will be requested upon interview. This position requires a valid driver's license and drug testing may be required.

Environmental Field Technician

Position Type: Non-Exempt/Full-time/Regular

Zia Engineering and Environmental Consultants, LLC (Zia) is seeking an Environmental Field Technician for our White Sands Missile Range Test Center activities.  


Duties:  Will include reviewing, documenting, packaging, labeling, environmental sampling, preparing for shipment, and transporting regulated/non-regulated wastes in accordance with applicable regulations, spill clean-up, decontaminations and waste containment. 


Knowledge Skills & Abilities:  Successful candidate must have the ability to learn and run basic computer programs; able to meet deadlines, work independently and in a team atmosphere. Be familiar with hazardous waste containment, documenting, remediation and controls and regulatory requirements. The Field Tech must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and comply with contract requirements and regulatory agencies.

Minimum requirements: 

Certification:  Must successfully complete a 40-hour course, “Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)”, under OSHA Regulation 29 CFR 1910.120 within not more than 30 days of employment. Candidate(s) current with this training and refreshers will be given preference.

Special considerations:  Successful candidate(s) must be in good physical condition and able to pass a screening physical which includes drug testing, and ability to lift at least 50 lbs.  This position requires a valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check.
