POSITION DESCRIPTION: |
| The individual in this role will provide semiprofessional technical support to engineers in various fields, including research, design, development, testing, and manufacturing process improvement. The work will primarily focus on electrical, electronic, or mechanical components and equipment. Key responsibilities include assisting with the design, evaluation, and modification of machinery and equipment. The position involves performing simple, routine tasks under close supervision or according to detailed procedures, with work being reviewed in progress or upon completion. Typical duties include assembling or installing equipment, parts requiring simple wiring, soldering, or connecting; conducting basic tests such as tensile or hardness tests; operating and adjusting simple test equipment; and recording test data. Additionally, the role will involve gathering and maintaining engineering data such as test results and drawings, performing computations, and plotting data and graphs. The work may include occasional weekend and overtime hours, with cross-utilization into other related tasks as necessary. |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: |
| Candidates must demonstrate satisfactory skill and performance with at least three years of progressive work experience with relevant equipment or have graduated from a two-year resident course at a technical institute. Practical knowledge of science or engineering is required, and some positions may also necessitate a basic understanding of mathematics or computer science. A valid driver’s license is required for this position. Employment is contingent upon the ability to successfully obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. The selected applicant must also meet all eligibility requirements for access to and work on the White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) installation. |
